Frozen copies of sources that change under the guides ====================================================== Some guides read live sources that change from one download to the next: an API that serves the newest uploads first, a register edited daily, a gazetteer rebuilt nightly. Their numbers would stop reproducing. For those, the data was downloaded once and saved here; each guide's setup reads the copy, and its code comments give the live request it stands for. A file name carries the download date and never changes. A refreshed copy gets a new name, and the guides that read it are re-run and rewritten against it. Never replace a file under a name already published: the zone cache ignores the query string and keeps a /data/ file for up to a year (2026-10-09: a corrected GPS zip went out as -v2 for that reason). Since 2026-10-16 the files are served from https://data.spatialworkflow.io/ (their own server, outside Cloudflare); https://www.spatialworkflow.io/data/ redirects there. tools/sync-data.sh pushes this folder, plus the copies too large for the repository (.cache/data-snapshots/: the GeoNames dump, TriMet's GTFS feed), and refuses to replace a published file with different bytes. osm-gps-traces-brighton-2026-10-09-v2.zip OpenStreetMap API trackpoints, bbox -0.20,50.81,-0.10,50.86, pages 0-11, saved 2026-10-09 01:12 UTC.
